Smiles Are Sunshine For All




Research has shown that smiles can be heard. When a person who is speaking on the phone is smiling, the person listening can actually sense it.

Many telemarketing companies require that their telemarketers speak to their mirrored reflection so they can see their facial expressions. If they are not smiling, they can see themselves in the mirror as a reminder to smile as they speak.

Here are more reasons why smiling is better than frowning:


- It takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown "It takes seventeen muscles to smile and forty-three to frown." Author Unknown
- Smiling will relieve stress whereas frowning can actually increase stress "It takes a lot of work from the face to let out a smile, but just think what good smiling can bring to the most important muscle of the body... the heart." Author Unknown

- People are attracted to those who smile. When was the last time you wanted to meet a person who was frowning? "Wear a smile and have friends; wear a scowl and have wrinkles. What do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?" George Eliot

If A Dog Was The Teacher




If a dog was the teacher, you would learn stuff like:

- When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
- Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
- Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
- When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

- Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
- Take naps. Stretch before rising.
- Run, romp, and play daily.
- Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

- Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
- On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
- On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
- When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

- No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout! Run right back and make friends.
- Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
- Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
- Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

- If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
- When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Now you know why a dog is a person's best friend!

The Road To Success



What is important, however, is that we keep focused on our end goal. When failure occurs, a lot of people just see a dead end. It is only a dead end if you see it that way. All you have to do is back up and start at a different point.

How you see failure will ultimately determine whether you give up or try another way. Attitude plays a tremendously big role. How do you see your world? Do you have a determined attitude? Do you believe in yourself, or do you accept what others tell you about yourself? Are you quick to give up, or do you persevere?

Scrutinize your attitude — how do you see your world?

Don’t be blind and only see the dead end. Stop and determine what change in direction will get you back on track.

Reach Out For Your Dreams




Why are we afraid to chase our dreams... Why does one person find it difficult to set out and achieve that which they desire, while others can some how set out, without so much a care in the world. What makes some people achievers, while others remain simply dreamers.

Is it the difference in their internal makeup? Is it in the way they were raised? The environment they grew up in? When one studies the lives of "achievers" one thing becomes evident. What is it that tends to shine through in case after case?

In my opinion the most evident factor is that there simply isn't a set pattern. These "super achievers", if you will, come from all walks of life. These folks emerge from all social classes. Varying degrees of socioeconomic backgrounds. Some from affluent families, while others emerge from economically depressed areas, and all corners of the earth.

Some of these people are college educated, others are schooled through lessons that life has taught them; the school of hard knocks. Many from a combination of both. However, all understand that knowledge in any form is a constant thing to be acquired. Skills are constantly upgraded.

While each person has come face to face with giving up, they opted to befriended perseverance, and used it to their advantage. Somehow they've found a way to overcome the point at which one wants to give up, trudged ahead and reached a point of achievement.

Yet at this point most often they tend to move onto other areas of achievement. Not accepting the status quo. Choosing to move forward towards new goals, and things that stand in their path. Though they may come from vastly differing backgrounds, each has found within themselves their ability to turn dreams into reality.

When you read this it is my hope that you take from this the knowledge that you, are just as they are. You are in fact an achiever. Just like these people you will have adversity. You may have more then your fair share of shortcomings. You may experience what seems to be at the time an inordinate amount of failure in your life.

Even so, you are still an achiever. You have more greatness in you then you can ever know. I hope that you will choose to use the power of persistence to your benefit, as all those achievers before you have. In doing so I am certain you will accomplish much more than you can imagine you are capable of at this point in your life. Dare to dream, but even more importantly, dare to put action behinds your dreams...

Beauty Tips




For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone.

Love and February



Love is a prime motivator in life. With Valentine's Day, February is a month that brings people's focus to love. They think about sharing that romantic evening. They look for that special card or gift to show their love. They feel sad because that special someone is not in their life.


But February is also a good time to focus on another type of love, the love of life. The love of life can be as important in the quality of your life as your love relationship.


Utopia is the ideal life. You love everything about your life. You love where you are. You love whom you are with. You love what you do. Everything is perfect. You could say Utopia is loving your life completely.


Utopia is an ideal. Utopia does not exist, except as an ideal to dream about and to try to achieve. But an attitude of love can open the door to you perceiving life in a utopian way.


Your perception goes a long way in determining what your life is like. Is the glass half empty or is the glass half full. Only you have the answer for you. Is life hard and full of scarcity or is life wonderful and full of abundance?



You decide, for yourself, everyday, by how you perceive the events of your life. Let's say you're having a rough time at work. Everything is going against you. Your partner seems to want to fight you in everything you do.


You can look at this scenario anyway you want. You can say, "I can't take this anymore," and quit. You can say, "I hate this, life stinks." Or you can look at it from another angle and say, "This stinks, something is wrong here. If we can figure it out maybe we can get over this and be better than ever."


Each scenario is correct depending on your perception. Your perception will have something to do with how this scenario plays out.


If you quit, it doesn't matter what happens there, because you'll be gone. If you say "life stinks," you only add to the sour atmosphere.


If you lovingly look for a solution, maybe you can help turn things around. If you can't improve the situation and it really is better to quit then you have learned some valuable lessons that may help you down the road.


Your perception affects the results of any situation. That means your perception controls reality from any point of view.


How you perceive anything is up to you. Choose to look for the positives in every situation. You will start to see possibilities to for improving the situation. The negatives may diminish because you will be focusing improving things instead of worrying about all the catastrophes that probably will never happen.


February is a great time to open your focus to a loving attitude. Taking a loving approach to your life brings more acceptance for people and situations for what they are. And even if it is not the utopia you dream about, your loving acceptance takes much of the stress away.


Use the love focus of Valentine's Day to look at your life through loving eyes. Accept what isn't and be grateful for what is. Open your heart and let others see your loving acceptance and create a more utopian reality to live.

Defining passion




How is passion defined? Webster's defines passion as: Pervading spirit, ruling passion, master passion, fullness of heart, flow of soul.

Why is it important to feel passion for what you are doing both professionally and personally? One reason is that if you are passionate, you are motivated and if you are motivated you are passionate! Have you ever met someone who is passionate about his or her work? It probably made a huge impression on you.

Let me tell you about Kevin Brown. The first time a walked into the meeting room at a hotel in Philadelphia, Kevin Brown was setting up tables for my meeting. He came over with a big smile and said " I am Kevin Brown, and I would like to welcome you to our home- I want to make sure you feel at home when you are here, and if you need anything give me a call. I am employee of the year and I will exceed your expectations. Because when you care it shows." Kevin Brown works at the hotel setting up the tables for meetings and banquets and he is passionate about it. I have never had a meeting in Philadelphia at any other hotel. Kevin Brown is passionate about his work. My first question when I walk into the hotel is "Is Kevin on duty tonight?" Kevin Brown's passion for his work is an incredible value for his employer and for him. Think about it- whenever you experience someone who is energetic and passionate in a store or a restaurant or a business, doesn't it impress you? When you experience the opposite of that doesn't it make a negative impression?

Having a passion for what you do has several advantages:
· It keeps you fired up and motivated!
· It makes what you are doing fun.
· You can be an inspiration to others (there is no question that enthusiasm is transferable and very contagious)
· You will be more productive
· You will be more successful.

So try to pursue the very things that you are passionate about- that is the difference between good and great!

Angels among friends




Some people doubt that each of us

You have the gift of self-sufficiency, and the possibility of growing into a person who is strong and able. But may you not grow too strong, though, so that you reject the help and love and caring of others who wish to be there for you. Balance your strength with your needs and the needs of others to be helpful and to show their caring.


 I wish you light in your darkest hours. When life seems to be confusing or empty, and when your path seems to be hidden in the shadows of pain, doubt, despair, or unrest, may you find the light inside of you that will help you to see things as they truly are, for every night comes to an end, every storm runs its course, and light and peace always return to us.

 I wish you the power of a perspective that allows you to see the beauty of the darkness, no matter how threatening your current situation, or how uneasy you may feel.
